Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. Warren County Wildcats

Meridian is a perfect 10-0 against Warren County since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Meridian Mustangs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Warren County Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. Meridian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Meridian was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Warren County on Thursday. Meridian claimed a resounding 56-22 win over Warren County. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.

Meridian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nora Stufft, who went 9-for-12 to rack up 18 points along with seven boards and four steals, and Ellie Friesen, who went 7-for-12 en route to 18 points. Stufft is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Lieu, who posted five points and eight assists.

Meridian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.9 points over those games. As for Warren County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
