Basketball Game Preview: Centerville Tornadoes vs. Gayville-Volin Raiders

The Centerville Tornadoes will head out on the road to take on the Gayville-Volin Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Centerville easily dispatched Avon two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Centerville fell just short of Beresford by a score of 64-62 on Tuesday. The Tornadoes' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Gayville-Volin posted their biggest win since January 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bon Homme 58-28. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory (which was Gayville-Volin's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Centerville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.

Centerville took their win against Gayville-Volin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 64-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
