It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corcoran had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the McLane Highlanders 3-1. The Panthers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

Brennan Botill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayden Espinoza, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortez Portillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Corcoran hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLane struck out nine times.

Corcoran's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for McLane, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season.

Corcoran will head out to take on Chavez at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.7, the Titans 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. McLane does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
