Basketball Recap: Jackson Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marion over Berean Academy

Marion lost against Berean Academy back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Marion fell 41-30 to Berean Academy. While losing is never fun, Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Berean Academy is ranked 68th).

Marion lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jackson Howard, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wessel, who posted seven points.

Marion has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. The win was the third in a row for Berean Academy, bringing their record for this year to 12-6-1.

Marion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-42 victory against Central Christian Academy on the 21st. As for Berean Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-30 win against Classical on the 21st.
