Soccer Game Preview: Canyon Ridge vs. Highland

The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks are taking a road trip to take on the Highland Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Canyon Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Thunder Ridge, who was ranked second at the time (Canyon Ridge was ranked 18th). The Riverhawks fell just short of the Titans by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Canyon Ridge couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Highland entered their tilt with Madison on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 2-0 shutout. Give Highland's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Kason Ryerson and Leo Fernandez scored both of Highland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Canyon Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Canyon Ridge might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Highland in their previous matchup last Saturday. Can the Riverhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
