Meanwhile, Hughes Springs' hitters rose to the challenge against a Tigers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.7 runs allowed on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on Malakoff with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Mustangs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 17th contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Hughes Springs' win bumped their record up to 26-3. As for Gunter, their victory bumped their record up to 24-9.
