Arrowhead Christian and Woodcrest Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Arrowhead Christian Eagles will face off against the Woodcrest Christian Royals at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arrowhead Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Woodcrest Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Arrowhead Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Loma Linda Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Arrowhead Christian never let Loma Linda Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Gaby Rios was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Trinity Bavadi was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Chloe Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Woodcrest Christian's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Saturday. They fell just short of Citrus Hill by a score of 7-6. The matchup marked the Royals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Annie Renna made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hare, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Even though they lost, Woodcrest Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Arrowhead Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Woodcrest Christian fell to 5-1.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Arrowhead Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .535. However, it's not like Woodcrest Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
