Softball Recap: Concord Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Concord hadn't done well against Northridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Minutemen came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 12-8. That's two games straight that the Minutemen have won by exactly four runs.

Cassi Reames and Janessa Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Reames went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Bennett went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Bennett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Serina Masuth, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Concord kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Concord has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Northridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Concord will face off against rival Mishawaka at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Northridge is set to challenge their familiar foe Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
