Softball Recap: Batesville Bulldogs vs. Lawrenceburg Tigers
Batesville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Lawrenceburg Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 19-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Caitlyn Fox was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
As for Lawrenceburg, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
On Lawrenceburg's side, the team relied heavily on Reigha Ghiatis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Ghiatis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hall, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Batesville will host Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lawrenceburg, they will welcome Greensburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.5, the Pirates 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
