Softball Recap: Nelsonville-York Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Meigs, Nelsonville-York was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the River Valley Raiders by a score of 8-5. For the Buckeyes, this counts as revenge for the 15-1 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lilly Gura spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Ava Nungester was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmie Fowler, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Nelsonville-York's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for River Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Nelsonville-York will face off against Athens at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River Valley, they will take on South Webster at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
