Ribault hasn't had much luck against Stanton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 6:00 p.m. Ribault has given up an average of 16.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ribault took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Westside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 13-12 last Thursday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Stanton got themselves on the board against Parker last Tuesday, but Parker never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won five in a row.
Marissa Joseph was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Stanton got a big performance out of Leah Joseph, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Maddie Hicks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Stanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parker only posted a batting average of .083.
Stanton's record is now 6-2. As for Ribault, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Ribault might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Stanton when the teams last played back in February. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
