Basketball Recap: Monticello Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Monticello had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-40 W against the Tolono Unity Rockets. For the Sages, this counts as revenge for the 37-33 victory the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Monticello got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ali Weidner out in front who posted 13 points and three steals. Megan Allen was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Monticello pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points over those games. As for Tolono Unity, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season.

Monticello has already played their next game, a 51-35 win against Williamsville on the 11th. As for Tolono Unity, they will take on Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tolono Unity is facing Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at the right time seeing as Sangamon Valley/Tri-City is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
