Softball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Whitney Wildcats

Davis Sr. hasn't had much luck against Whitney recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Davis Sr. will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

On Friday, it was close, but Davis Sr. sidestepped Granite Bay for a 3-2 win. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by just one run.

Kaytlin LeBar-Triepke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gracie Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sofia Lester, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Whitney suffered their closest defeat since February 27th on Friday. They fell just short of Oak Ridge by a score of 3-1.

Whitney also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Paige Tamblyn gave up three earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Whitney saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayla Bradford, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Whitney's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Davis Sr., their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
