Basketball Recap: Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Pelican Rapids

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 24) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pelican Rapids Vikings 45-42. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Vikings are ranked 22nd).

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross' victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Pelican Rapids, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheaton/Herman-Norcross will challenge Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pelican Rapids, they will head out on the road to square off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
