Softball Recap: Russell County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Russell County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Clinton County Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 two weeks ago.

Brylie Hardwick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Russell County let Olivia Roberstson and Addy Abrell run wild. Roberstson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Abrell went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Roberstson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylen McGowan, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Russell County's record now sits at 16-7. As for Clinton County, they moved to 11-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Russell County will face off against Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clinton County, they will challenge Garrard County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
