Basketball Recap: Salesian Takes a Loss

If Salesian was riding high fresh off their 66-33 takedown of Tuckahoe last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Salesian Eagles took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monsignor McClancy Crusaders. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Salesian lost on Friday, don't look at Julien Wiggins. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 18 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Wiggins' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Lagos, who posted eight points.

Salesian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Monsignor McClancy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salesian will venture away from home to challenge Moore Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Monsignor McClancy and Monsignor Farrell will compete for holiday cheer at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
