Softball Game Preview: West Point Pointers vs. King William Cavaliers

West Point hasn't had much luck against King William recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pointers are taking a road trip to square off against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. West Point has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Point might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-1 to Middlesex, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Pointers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, King William put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over New Kent. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.

King William pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

West Point might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from King William in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Pointers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
