Preview: Astoria Fishermen vs. North Valley Knights
The Astoria Fishermen and the North Valley Knights will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Astoria will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Astoria has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 33 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Florence 80-47 on the road. Given Astoria's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in Oregon, while Florence is ranked 210th in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Bandon scored an imposing 60 points last Friday, North Valley still came out on top. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, North Valley made off with a 61-60 win over Bandon.
Astoria's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for North Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.
