Northview dropped their record down to 13-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the East Grand Rapids Pioneers by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for East Grand Rapids, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

For East Grand Rapids' part, they got a great performance from Conner Quigg as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Quigg a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, East Grand Rapids' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Hoefer, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Tripp DeBoer also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview will welcome Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Grand Rapids, they will square off against DeWitt at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
