Basketball Game Preview: Kodiak Bears vs. Wasilla Warriors

The Kodiak Bears will square off against the Wasilla Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Kodiak and Grace Christian faced off in a Battle of the Bears two weeks ago. The game between Kodiak and Grace Christian didn't end well, with Kodiak falling 63-44. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Grizzlies are ranked third).

Kelly Ticman put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 28 points. That was a full 63.6% of Kodiak's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Bubba Basuel was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Wasilla entered their tilt with Mountain City Christian Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 62-39 win. That 23 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Wasilla's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Kodiak, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
