Softball Recap: Knoch Wins Going Away Against Derry

Knoch barely beat Derry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 11-3 victory on Friday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Kaila Purcell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lizzie Danik, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. McKenna Brailey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Knoch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Knoch's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Derry, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Knoch has already played their next game, a 13-0 win against Valley on the 13th. As for Derry, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-0 loss against Indiana on the 13th.
