Basketball Recap: Mitchell Falls Despite Big Games from Jordyn Roberts and Jaycionna Fisher

Mitchell lost against Sand Creek back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mitchell Marauders took a 35-21 bruising from the Sand Creek Scorpions. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

JayCionna Fisher and Jordyn Roberts certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Fisher almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Roberts posted two points along with 12 boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in steals.

Sand Creek found their leader in sophomore Olivia Baker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayla Dempsey, who earned four points and three steals.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Sand Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-18 loss against Pueblo Centennial on the 3rd. As for Sand Creek, they have also already played their next game, a 52-15 defeat against Falcon on the 1st.
