Football Game Preview: Yates Lions vs. Needville Bluejays + How To Watch

The Yates Lions will challenge the Needville Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Yates' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Yates' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Furr to the tune of 71-0. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

One reason for the win was Yates' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Needville ended up a good deal behind Stafford on Friday and lost 31-17.

Although Needville took the loss, they still got scores from Kaden Jakubec and Carter Hedt.

Needville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ralphie Ortiz and Colton Butler. Needville got some further help from Diego Hernandez: he picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.

Yates pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Needville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Yates took a serious blow against Needville in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 49-14. Thankfully for the Lions, Da'Shawn Burton (who rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
