Baseball Game Preview: Swain County Maroon Devils vs. Rosman Tigers

For the second straight game, Swain County will face off against Rosman. The Maroon Devils will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Swain County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Swain County will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Rosman, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Maroon Devils were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Maroon Devils in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Ayden Smiley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Swain County is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-7 otherwise. Smiley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Shuler was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Corey Stillwell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Rosman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Swain County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
