Baseball Game Preview: Eldorado Eagles vs. Edwards County Lions

Eldorado is 0-10 against Edwards County since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Eldorado has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eldorado came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-2 to Gallatin County.

Meanwhile, Edwards County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Salukis as they made off with a 14-1 win. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly 13 runs.

Drew Roosevelt and Cash Conner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Roosevelt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Conner struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Roosevelt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Roosevelt went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Conner went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Conner has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Edwards County got a big performance out of Dylan Prather, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Prather has posted since back in March. Walker Sledge was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Edwards County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.

Eldorado's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Edwards County, their record is now 11-5.

Eldorado suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Edwards County in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
