Baseball Game Preview: Royalton-Hartland Rams vs. Newfane Panthers

For the second straight game, Royalton-Hartland will face off against Newfane. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.

Royalton-Hartland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Newfane 15-5 on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Rams' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Sean Mettler made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Royalton-Hartland is 3-1 when Mettler allows three or fewer hits, but 2-4 otherwise. Mettler was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, John Brigham was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jared Hy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Royalton-Hartland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Royalton-Hartland pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Newfane, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
