Softball Recap: Hatley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hatley waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Hamilton Lions by a score of 6-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ashlynn Dabbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brileigh Lewis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.

Hatley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in seven consecutive games.

Hatley pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hatley Tigers take on Walnut Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hamilton, they will challenge East Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Union will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Hamilton surely won't give up without a fight.
