Basketball Recap: Northgate Makes It Four in a Row at Home

After losing to Alhambra the last time they met, Northgate decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Northgate Broncos were the clear victor by a 58-34 margin over the Alhambra Bulldogs on Tuesday. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 471st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nico Martin had an outrageously good game as he went 7 for 11 en route to 19 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of David Harris, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and three blocks.

Northgate's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Alhambra, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

When Northgate and Alhambra next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Northgate will square off against Ygnacio Valley and their five-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northgate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Alhambra will try to stop College Park's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
