Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

The Coronado Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Arbor View, who was ranked fifth at the time (Coronado was ranked 24th). The Cougars came up short against the Aggies on Friday, falling 15-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Aggies since March 7, 2019.

Coronado saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Diamondbacks with a sharp 16-8 win.

Austin Arteaga was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonas Yatson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coronado has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.

Coronado came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Gorman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gaels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
