Baseball Recap: Sweeny Comes Up Short

Sweeny suffered their biggest loss since April 5, 2025 on Tuesday. They came up short against the Angleton Wildcats, falling 9-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2020.

Jake Coker made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Coker is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Nate Benavides, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Sweeny's loss dropped their record down to 1-1-1. As for Angleton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Sweeny will square off against MacArthur at 3:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Angleton, they will face off against Foster at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
