De La Salle kept a clean sheet against Monte Vista on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Monte Vista Mustangs out 1-0. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Mustangs are ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

De La Salle pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five games. As for Monte Vista, they moved to 3-2-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
