Basketball Recap: Sand Rock Wildcats vs. Arnold Marlins
The Sand Rock Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by Arnold 82-55. The match was a close 30-29 at the break, but unfortunately for Sand Rock it sure didn't stay that way.
Arnold's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roman Howell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Howell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Green, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Sand Rock has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-26 record this season. As for Arnold, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17.
Sand Rock will take on the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Arnold will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Pine Forest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Marlins in Florida (the Eagles are ranked 295th, while the Marlins are ranked 604th).
