Softball Recap: Fife Has No Trouble Against Washington

Fife came out on top against Washington on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Trojans blew past the Patriots 14-1. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

Mallory Geving made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mallory Robson was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Christiansen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fife always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted an OBP of .417.

Fife's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Fife will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair will be back at it again later today.
