Basketball Game Preview: Bunker Hill Minutemen vs. Metro-East Lutheran Knights

The Bunker Hill Minutemen will square off against the Metro-East Lutheran Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 19 consecutive losses for Bunker Hill and 11 for Metro-East Lutheran.

Last Thursday, Bunker Hill had to suffer through a 64-24 loss at the hands of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Vipers are ranked 266th).

Meanwhile, Metro-East Lutheran ended up a good deal behind Maryville Christian on Friday and lost 41-27.

Bunker Hill will need to focus on slowing down Alexa Stock, one of several Metro-East Lutheran players who made an impact when they last played. She posted nine points. What's more, Stock also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Metro-East Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Bunker Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-22.

Bunker Hill took their victory against Metro-East Lutheran in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 51-31. Will Bunker Hill repeat their success, or does Metro-East Lutheran have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
