Basketball Recap: Leon's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Westside last Saturday, Leon came back down to earth. The Leon Lions fell to the Gadsden County Jaguars 46-42. That makes it the first time this season the Lions have let down their home crowd.

When it comes to explaining why Leon lost on Monday, don't look at Heaven Ellerby. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Mary Grace Parker, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Jahyria Dillard had an outrageously good game for Gadsden County as she had 18 points along with eight steals and seven boards. That's the most steals Dillard has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Williams, who put up ten points and seven rebounds.

Leon's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Gadsden County, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Leon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-39 victory against North Florida Christian on the 10th. As for Gadsden County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-22 win against FAMU DRS on the 19th.
