Baseball Recap: Mulberry Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bishop Moore

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mulberry had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bishop Moore Hornets 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Hornets on Tuesday, they had to take a 7-1 defeat.

Jaden Sweeney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Coby Anker looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 13 consecutive appearances.

Sweeney wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Stedman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Mulberry pushed their record up to 26-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Bishop Moore, their loss dropped their record down to 25-9.

As of now, neither Mulberry nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
