Baseball Game Preview: Church Farm Griffens vs. The Christian Academy

The Church Farm Griffens will head out to face off against The Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 12 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Church Farm and three for The Christian Academy.

Collegium Charter hit Church Farm with a eight-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Griffens lost 14-3 to the Cougar.

Church Farm saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savion Weaver-Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Ruben Rios also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, The Christian Academy came up short against Plumstead Christian on Friday, falling 15-1.

Church Farm's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for The Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Church Farm has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Church Farm suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to The Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Griffens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
