Lane Smith gave up the fewest walks he has since back in April on Thursday. He was dynamite, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Marys is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-12-1 otherwise.

Smith's effort led St. Marys over Chapman and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears have some work to do to even out the 1-8 series between these two since May of 2019, but a win here would be a good start.
