Baseball Recap: Chestnut Ridge Comes Up Short

Chestnut Ridge had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Central Dragons, falling 9-0. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Chestnut Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Whysong, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Central, their record now sits at 9-3. Considering they have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Central's side, Jay Hoenstine was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Beltz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Chestnut Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Central Cambria on the 22nd. As for Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-3 defeat against Philipsburg-Osceola on the 22nd.
