Football Recap: Leland Chargers vs. Lincoln Lions
Leland's last matchup with Lincoln could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Thursday. The Chargers were beaten by the Lions 49-7. The Chargers lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 15-12 score last time.
Philip Arsintescu threw for 213 yards and one TD. Cole Canter was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Sam McFarland rushed for 47 yards.
Lincoln was led to victory by Jonathan Medina and Luca Papoulias. Medina rushed for 88 yards and three scores on only eight carries, while Papoulias threw for 209 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven passes. That's the most rushing yards Medina has posted since back in September of 2024.
Leland is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Lincoln, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leland will venture away from home to challenge Santa Teresa at 7:15 p.m. on the 19th. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Lincoln, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Gunderson at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
