Softball Game Preview: Corona Panthers vs. Santiago Sharks

Corona is 1-9 against Santiago since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Sharks at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Corona came up short against King on Tuesday, falling 16-6.

Meanwhile, Santiago was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to Roosevelt, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Sharks have suffered against the Mustangs since May 11, 2021.

Corona's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Santiago, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Corona couldn't quite get it done against Santiago when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
