Softball Recap: Floyd County Has No Trouble Against Radford

Floyd County never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Radford Bobcats as they made off with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emma Biesterveld made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Floyd County let Lilly Gillispie and Ava DeJesus run wild. Gillispie went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while DeJesus got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Gillispie has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Vaughn, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Floyd County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Radford only posted a batting average of .000.

Floyd County's record now sits at 12-7. As for Radford, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Floyd County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
