Baseball Recap: Herrin Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Herrin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Benton Rangers, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 7th.

Herrin got a massive performance out of Jaxon Hudson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Hudson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Hall, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Herrin moved to 8-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Benton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Herrin will square off against Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Benton, they will take on Frankfort at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Redbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
