Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Viewmont Vikings walked away with it. They walked away with a 47-35 victory over the Aviators on Tuesday. The win was just what Viewmont needed coming off of a 65-42 defeat in their prior game.
Kristina Gunnell had an outrageously good game as she scored 19 points along with eight steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks. Mary Carr was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Cedar Valley had strong showings from Olivia Kaaihue, who scored 12 points along with three steals, and Hadley Whiting, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Whiting hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games.
Viewmont's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.
Viewmont will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd. Bountiful will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Viewmont surely won't give up without a fight. Cedar Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
