Basketball Recap: Hibriten Takes a Loss

Hibriten was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The matchup between them and the Alexander Central Cougars didn't end well, with the Hibriten Panthers falling 62-44. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Jayon Connor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alexander Central, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 12 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Connor has scored at least a third of Alexander Central's points. Jaheim Redmond was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Hibriten's record now sits at 3-15. As for Alexander Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Hibriten and Alexander Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Hibriten will square off against South Caldwell at 8:00 p.m. on Friday down 438 places (571 vs. 133). Similarly, Alexander Central (ranked 265th) will meet Freedom (ranked 99th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
