Softball Recap: Seymour's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Seymour fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Oxford on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Leah Parkosewich spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daphne Shea was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kylie Testone was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Seymour's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3. As for Oxford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Looking ahead, Seymour will square off against Naugatuck at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oxford, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-5 win against Shepaug Valley on the 3rd.
