The Century Centurions are taking a road trip to take on the Vienna Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Century beats Vienna with 13 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Centurions never let Agape Christian get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Thursday. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Adam Taake was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Century is undefeated when Taake posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Hunter Lasley and Hunter Burd did most of the damage at the plate: Lasley went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Burd went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Lasley is becoming a predictor of Century's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). August Blevins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Vienna got the win against Carmi-White County on Saturday by a conclusive 11-1.
The team relied heavily on Trace Moore, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Walker Colson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Century's record is now 5-3. As for Vienna, their record now sits at 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Century has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vienna struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Century skirted past Vienna 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Centurions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
