Baseball Recap: Highland Has No Trouble Against Wesclin

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mater Dei, Highland was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Wesclin Warriors with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Braxdon Decker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Decker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Knebel, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Blake Gelly was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Highland back to even at 4-4. As for Wesclin, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will head out to take on Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wesclin, they will venture away from home to face off against Sparta at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
