Basketball Recap: Sequim Takes a Loss

If Sequim was riding high fresh off their 76-50 takedown of Foss last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sequim Wolves took a 52-38 bruising from the Franklin Pierce Cardinals on Friday. The game marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

It was another big night for Javon Barbee, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds for Franklin Pierce. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Barbee has scored at least a third of Franklin Pierce's points. Hakeen Collins was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Sequim's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Franklin Pierce, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.

Coming up, Sequim won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Port Angeles at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Franklin Pierce, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Bremerton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bremerton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Franklin Pierce likes a good challenge.
