Softball Preview: Panorama Pythons vs. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers

The Panorama Pythons will square off against the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Panorama comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Panorama's offense. They lost 29-0 to Northridge Academy on Wednesday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Pythons haven't been shut out since back in March.

Meanwhile, Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences got the win against Vaughn on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-4. The Vipers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.

Emily McGrath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jillian Hernandez was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Celin Carballo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for Panorama, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
